Hey! I'm Ashlyn Burns, a 21-year-old photographer based in the beautiful valley of Salt Lake City, Utah. I've been perfecting my photo game for over 7 years, and in the last 5 I have truly worked toward crafting my very own brand.
My photography love story started way back in elementary school, when I'd get lost in snapping pics with my mom's "ancient" iPhone 5. Then, at 12, I got my hands on my very own Sony camera, and I was hooked – from birds to the moon, I'd photograph it all. Sure, my early shots weren't exactly award-winning, but they lit the fire for a passion that's only grown.
Because I started my photography journey with a goofy Instagram account for my pets, animals will always have a special place in my heart when it comes to photography. Now, though, I'm all about capturing moments and turning them into visual stories. Wanna join me on this photo journey? Every click brings us closer to creating memories that'll last a lifetime.
My sidekick
While photography is a big part of my life, my heart truly belongs to my four furry buddies back home, especially Olaf, my playful pup. With my two cat pals, Arlo and Evie, they make up my little crew. In the scenic landscapes of Idaho Falls, where Olaf hangs out, I've started this fun tradition of bringing him along to some shoots, capturing those sweet moments between him and my clients. It adds a sprinkle of happiness to the whole creative gig, reminding us that our sessions aren't just about getting cool shots but also about celebrating the bonds we share.
When I'm not taking photos...
I have always been drawn to photography and pretty much any creative medium since before I can remember. I grew up as a competitive dancer from ages 3-15, but that journey was cut short when a severe back injury left me unable to dance. After several MRIs, injections, and even a surgery in 2020, I'm finally in a better spot now. I can still pursue my passions, but chronic pain will always be a challenge I have to fight.
Even though I lost what I thought was my one true love when I had to stop dancing, I have fallen in love with two other, more accessible passions: photography and animals. Obviously, you've heard a lot about my photography journey up to this point. On the animal front, I currently work part time as a veterinary technician at Union Park Veterinary Hospital, and I absolutely adore my job! I'm also a part time biology student (go Utes!) and I'm working toward eventually going to vet school to get my DVM! Of course, work and school can't be my whole life, so I spread my creative wings by doing photoshoots on the side. I also love to watercolor paint, foster kittens, and wind down with yoga!
